2021 Report

The 2021 Report identified eight developments beginning to change the world of work since the pandemic began. These eight emerging themes were: labour market changes; regulation and enforcement; flexibility; resilience; socialisation and belonging; inequality and division; diversity and discrimination; and innovation. The 2021 Report also considered the impact of the drivers of change on jobs.

2022 and beyond

The eight drivers of change continue to cause profound changes to the world of work. This Report identifies eight further themes which have emerged or developed over the last year. This Report also revisits the impact of the drivers of change on jobs.

The new emerging themes identified in this Report are:

  • Economic policy and tax reform
  • Industrial action
  • Hybrid and remote working

The following four relate to the impact of politics and government action on the world of work.

The following three illustrate how rising inequality and division, the drive for diversity and the eradication of discrimination in society, and the need for resilience affects the world of work.
